Jessie Johnson joined the staff of the Good Neighbor Healthcare Center Dental Clinic in February of 2004 as a registered dental hygienist. She first started working two days a week at the Center, but has gradually increased her hours to meet the growing demand for services and now works four days each week.
Ms. Johnson started in healthcare as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with a degree from Solana College in Vallejo, California. She obtained her certificate of dental hygiene from Sacramento City College in 1973. Since graduation, she has worked in private practice as well as with non-profit organizations in both the U.S. and overseas.
A highlight of Ms. Johnson’s career came when she worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana, West Africa for thirteen months. In Ghana her duties included providing general nursing care with a special emphasis on nutrition and child care.
