GNHC MOVES TO 190 HEIGHTS BOULEVARD,
$1.5 MILLION CAPITAL CAMPAIGN NEARING GOAL
WITH $300,000 MATCHING GRANT
FROM JOHN S. DUNN RESEARCH FOUNDATION
Following 30 years in the same location, our old corner grocery store, Good Neighbor Healthcare Center moved to its spacious new home, the West End Clinic, in early March. While the staff settles in to new surroundings, the new site is already bustling with activity, as both new and old patients bring their families to the clinic.
“This is a really exciting time for us,” said Janet S. Donath, Executive Director. “We love our new home and are working extremely well with our new partners from the Houston Department of Health and Human Services. Most importantly, patients are being seen and receiving all of the high quality health care services they did before. Every one wins with this move.”
Good Neighbor Healthcare Center launched a $1,500,000 capital campaign to relocate to its new location and to enhance the facility with up-to-date medical and computer technology. In February, the John S. Dunn Research Foundation, a longtime supporter, awarded the GNHC Capital Campaign a most generous matching grant of $300,000. Any future donations towards our capital campaign goal will be matched dollar for dollar allowing your gift will go even further to ensuring Houston's uninsured and underinsured have access to a full range of preventive and primary care services including: Family Health Care, Prenatal Care, Dental Services, Optometry, and Behavioral Health Services. To date, the campaign has raised over $1,002,175 in financial commitments, in addition to the Dunn challenge grant.
Good Neighbor’s new location will enable us to expand the center from 6,000 square feet of clinical space to 13,000 square feet of clinical space, from 14 exam rooms to 21 (including dental) exam rooms, and from 6,000 medically underserved patients to over 8,000 served annually. The building is being leased from the Houston Department of Health and Human Services who will continue to provide complementary services alongside Good Neighbor’s programs.
