GNHC FAMILY SAYS GOODBYE TO OLD HOME
While Good Neighbor continues to grow in exciting ways, GNHC said goodbye to a part of its past recently when our old facility on West Gray was demolished. As each section of the structure fell amid dust and rubble, we couldn’t help but remember – and appreciate – what this grand old building had meant to the agency and the community for years.

Indeed, the unpretentious building had quietly served the people of the Fourth Ward for seven decades, first as a Weingarten grocery store, then as a storefront health care clinic. Through good times and bad, the old corner grocery store stood in the deep shadows of a burgeoning downtown skyline. Over time, thousands of families received care there. People looked on it as a place of healing, a true focal point for the Fourth Ward.
Affectionately known by many patients as “La Clínica Azul” the building – our home for 30 years – will not soon be forgotten.
